A Book Review on He’s Just Not That Into You
Published in 2004, the book He’s Just Not That Into You has continuously making waves in the market as this self-helped book captured the hearts of many readers. It became a New York Bestseller and was featured in many shows as one of the great books of its time. From the time it was released in the market, He’s Just Not That Into You has became a word of mouth especially among women who considered the book as their bible. It became the topic of many conversations and a guide for those who are still confuse in the aspect of love and dating – a deeper understanding actually on the opposite sex.He’s Just Not That into You was written by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo and is available in paperback and hardcover. Because it hit the market big-time, the story was also made into a movie which was released early of 2009. Most of its followers were women who were in the quest for love.
What makes the book so appealing to its target market, the women, is that the book can be an inspiring book for women who are still stuck with someone that it is not giving them any good at all in the long end. In other words, it takes a book such as He’s Just Not That into You for these women to realize that their guys (or their long-time crush) is not really that into them. The book gives pointers to women in knowing if the guy is really interested to them or not. We have taken into mind that men and women take things differently. For women, the actuations of a guy might be sending signals that he really likes the girl; but for guys, what he said and did was just normal and that no strings attached were in between.
The book He’s Just Not That into You was also written in a reader-friendly and conversational fashion that makes it as a good read. The book started with a letter from a concerned woman about her problems about his guy, and then the author answered this concern straight-blank, with no sugarcoating of words. Tips that the guy is just not that into you, according to the author, included – he’s just not that into you if: he doesn’t call you, he doesn’t have sex with you and he is having sex with someone else, he does not want to marry you, he suddenly disappeared, and he is married. These, however, are just tidbits of the many pointers the book has when it comes to making women realize that their guy is not interested to them.
Furthermore, this Behrendt and Tuccillo’s book gives its readers the reality that women, most of the time, overlooked many aspects about their men. According to the book, women are always making uses about their men; but the simple reality is that men are just not that interested to them.
The book, however, has also gained its fair share of critics. According to some, the words used in the book were quite harsh that it became offensive to some. Others also viewed the book as just another typical self-help book that just wanted to sell than to really help. Critics averred that the book downgraded the idea that women should be aggressive and straight-forward in dealing with their feelings towards a guy as the book suggested that women should not chase men because it should be the other way around.
Whatever the views of the people about the book, He’s Just Not That into You is a good read and very entertaining. It is amusing at times because gives readers a speck of truth when it comes to dating, relationship, romance, and the obvious fact that women and men (most of the time) think differently.
